1909 - Laying a depot at Minna Bluff ready for Shackleton's second attempt at the pole. A year later and after 1000 miles of want and hunger these supplies would end their fears of starvation with plenty of essentials along with dainties such as jams, chocolates, cakes and gingerbread.


1912 - Roald Amundsen and the Fram arrive in Hobart, Australia. To avoid reporters he said he would return to Lyttelton, New Zealand . He went ashore and booked into a hotel overnight alone, in his diary he says he was "treated as a tramp" and "given a miserable little room".
