Historical Antarctic Pictures and Events
1911-1914 - One of my favourite pictures of Antarctic sled dogs, this from Douglas Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition . The first dogs arrived in Antarctica on 17th Feb 1899 and the last were taken out on 22nd Feb 1994. They were instrumental in opening up the continent.
