Roald Amundsen, Norwegian South Pole Expedition on the ship Fram, 1910 - 1912.
1911- Amundsen:
"AM - Shot the first dog, too old to keep up, depoted beneath a beacon for the benefit of the others later, we reached the 81ºS depot. Hanssen fell across a crevasse on his skis causing his dog team to fight in the absence of their master, sled nearly followed him, all were rescued."
