Robert Falcon Scott, British Antarctic Expedition (South Pole Expedition) on the ship Terra Nova, 1910 - 1913.
1911 - Scott's camp on the Beardmore Glacier as they ascend to the Polar Plateau with the Transantarctic Mountains in the background. Wilson and Cherry-Garrard can be seen sitting on a sledge and sketching.
Roald Amundsen, Norwegian South Pole Expedition on the ship Fram, 1910 - 1912.
1911 - Amundsen passes Shackleton's 1909 farthest south at 88º 23' S on the Polar Plateau on the way to the South Pole. A cheer and the Norwegian flag was raised on a sledge. They were now farther south than any human being had been - and still going.
