1910 - The Terra Nova (Scott) with dogs on deck giving an idea of the size of the ship, picture taken from the engine room hatch
1903 - Last adelie penguin leaves McMurdo Sound, recorded on Scott's Discovery expedition. Then as now the wildlife heads north as days shorten and temperatures drop, these are the last days before Antarctica shuts down for the winter.
